My name is Caitlin Lyall, I’m originally from a small town in Labrador (Happy Valley-Goose Bay) and have been living in St. John’s for the past 8 years. I’ve spent the past 4 years working on a remote mining site in Northern Labrador where I became involved with promoting and facilitating mental health and well-being for our employees and myself. I’m very excited to take on the role of local coordinator for the Shoebox project this year and look forward to meeting new volunteers and giving back to our community.

The St. John's Shoebox Project occupies the ancestral, traditional and contemporary lands of the Beothuk, Mi’kma’ki First Nations. In particular, our Chapter resides on land ceded in the Peace & Friendship Treaty. We recognize and support the Indigenous individuals and communities who live here now, and those who were forcibly removed from their homelands. In offering this land acknowledgement, we affirm Indigenous sovereignty, history and experiences.
