The Shoebox Project: Niagara Region

Local Coordinator

Shawn Watson

I am honoured to join The Shoebox Project Niagara alongside the fantastic group of volunteers as the Local Coordinator. I am committed to supporting and creating awareness here in Niagara for those who are most vulnerable. As a lifelong resident in the Region, I'm excited to share the joy of gift-giving and helping women at risk feel valued, respected, and unique by bringing a lightness and reminder we are thinking of them, particularly around the holiday season.

OUR 2025 HOLIDAY DRIVE IS A WRAP!

We did it!!

Our 2025 drive is officially closed!

Thanks to our incredible community, this year we distributed 1,053 Shoebox Gifts and additionally over $8,750 in gift cards, supporting the women and agencies we serve across Niagara!

While our box goal of 1,200, requested by our agencies and programs was not reached, we are thrilled to share that every woman they support will still receive a gift from us — and that’s exactly why we do this.

Thank you for helping us spread hope, dignity, and holiday joy.

Through the incredible support of Duliban Insurance and partners their donation of $69, 000, in the new year we are excited to share new achievements, goals and stories in 2026. Follow along and celebrate every success with us as it unfolds!

The Niagara & St. Catharines Shoebox Project occupies the ancestral, traditional and contemporary lands of the Ho-de-no-sau-nee-ga (Haudenosaunee), Attiwonderonk (Neutral), Wenrohronon, Mississauga, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. In particular, our Chapter resides on land ceded in the Niagara Purchase Treaty 381. We recognize and support the Indigenous individuals and communities who live here now, and those who were forcibly removed from their homelands. In offering this land acknowledgement, we affirm Indigenous sovereignty, history and experiences.
