Believing in the power of women supporting women, I have always valued initiatives that foster community care. While the core of volunteering is giving back to those in need, the experience often brings a profound sense of personal connection and fulfillment in return. The Shoebox Project is a wonderful way to remind women facing hardship that they are seen, valued, and thought of during difficult times. Every participant I have spoken with describes this as one of the most personal and rewarding forms of giving they have experienced. Because of its deep impact and compassionate mission, joining this initiative was a natural and meaningful choice for me.

This holiday season, fill a standard-sized, decorated Shoebox with approximately $50 worth of gifts and essentials that any woman might enjoy, and include a warm greeting or message of support. Our volunteers distribute these gifts to local women’s shelters and community agencies serving women impacted by homelessness across Canada.
Whether you donate a Shoebox virtually or in-person, it is more than just a gift. It is a rare and powerful reminder that we all matter.

The Montérégie Shoebox Project occupies the ancestral, traditional and contemporary lands of the Nitassinan (Innu) First Nations, Wendake-Nionwentsïo First Nations. In particular, our Chapter resides on land ceded in the Traité Huron-Britannique de 1760. We recognize and support the Indigenous individuals and communities who live here now, and those who were forcibly removed from their homelands. In offering this land acknowledgement, we affirm Indigenous sovereignty, history and experiences.
