As your New Local Chapter Coordinator I’m so excited to be taking on this volunteer role and to be part of such a meaningful organization. I’m passionate about community work, empowering women, and creating spaces where people feel supported, valued, and connected. Through this role, I’m excited to help bring our community together to support women experiencing or at risk of homelessness through meaningful acts of kindness, advocacy, and awareness. I’m grateful to be part of an organization that reminds women they are seen, cared for, and not alone. I’m also incredibly grateful for any support from our community as we work together to make a difference for women in Durham Region.

The Durham Region Shoebox Project occupies the ancestral, traditional and contemporary lands of the Anishinabewaki, Wendake-Nionwentsïo, Ho-de-no-sau-nee-ga (Haudenosaunee), Mississauga. In particular, our Chapter resides on land ceded in the Williams (1923). We recognize and support the Indigenous individuals and communities who live here now, and those who were forcibly removed from their homelands. In offering this land acknowledgement, we affirm Indigenous sovereignty, history and experiences.
