Volunteer With Us

Help us build compassionate and connected communities

Our mission of distributing Shoeboxes to women impacted by homelessness across Canada, the US, and the UK requires a significant number of volunteers to achieve its full potential. With your help, we can reach as many women as possible and make a real difference in their lives.

For the women receiving our Shoebox gifts, it can be a reminder that they are not forgotten and that there are people who care about their well-being. It can provide a moment of happiness and comfort during a challenging time and serve as a reminder that they are valued members of their community.

By volunteering with us, you will play an essential role in creating these meaningful moments for women impacted by homelessness. Your time and dedication will not only provide these women with essential items but also show them that they are not alone in their struggles and that there is hope for a brighter future.

So, join us in our mission to build communities where all women are seen, valued, and treated with dignity. Volunteer today and be part of a community that cares.

Ways to Volunteer

Volunteering through Local Chapters

When you volunteer as an individual with us, you will be volunteering with a Local Chapter of The Shoebox Project. Chapters are set up in various communities across Canada by individuals seeking to bring The Shoebox Project to their city/town/region. These Chapters are 100% managed and run by volunteers like yourself in a variety of important roles. Some Chapters are in small communities with fewer needs, while others are in large centres with more activity and therefore more volunteer support is needed.

We offer a variety of leadership and support volunteer opportunities that cater to different ages, interests, and schedules, and the specific needs may vary depending on each individual Local Chapter.

Meet some of our volunteers...

The Shoebox Project is special to me because I have been on the receiving end of similar programs and I know personally the impact our gifts and messages of hope can have on someone. Seeing how the community takes care of each-other and the love is beyond heartwarming.

- Randi (Volunteer Local Chapter Coordinator - Ottawa, ON)

Life can change in a moment and we need our support system to get through it. This is my way of being someone’s support system, one shoebox at a time.

- Joanne (Volunteer Local Chapter Coordinator - Montérégie, QC)

My work with the Shoebox Project is so special to me. I feel blessed to be able to help womxn in my community who need a little care and kindness shown to them. Everyone deserves to feel valued and seen and knowing that my volunteer work ensures this is happening brings me joy.

-Rishell (Social Media Coordinator - Richmond, BC)

I truly believe that small indulgences like those in the Shoeboxes make women feel valued and loved. This support and care can truly change the lives of the women who receive them. Women caring for women is a powerful force for change. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this.

-Christy (Shoebox Deliveries & Inspections - Vancouver, BC)
